This is not a definitive guide to Los Angeles.
It’s a framework for going somewhere new.
Every neighborhood gives you a reason to show up — a cultural identity, a few fun facts, recurring events — and a starting point: a specific coffee shop or bakery, with a walking route to follow. From there, you are expected to look around.
If you walk past a panaderÃa that smells better than the one we marked, go in. If a bookstore on the corner pulls you in, follow it. The walks are scaffolding, not scripture. The most important business on any block is often the one we missed.
Skip the obvious. Spin the wheel. Grab a coffee. And go.
